Music composer duo coerced by
Director Sujoy Ghosh to sing for their own composition after auditioning singers for almost a year!
Infact you could ask anyone from the
ALADIN team about their favourite song, and the reply would be 'You May Be'.
As the song goes is currently on air, everyone from director
Sujoy Ghosh to Sunil Lulla from EROS to Vishal-Shekhar, the composer duo, to Amitabh Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez (on whom the
song is picturised), are supremely confident that this soft rock composition will turn out to be the love ballad of the season.
However, the
result wasn't easy to get. First and foremost the composers struggled and had to work hard to get the perfect tune for 'You May Be'.
Secondly, it took almost a year for getting the right voice that gave 'You May Be' the kind of shape that it is seen in today. Guess who
sung the song eventually? Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani themselves who were coerced into singing the song by Sujoy Ghosh.
Laughs Sujoy,
''I had to literally fight, abuse and push Vishal to sing 'You May Be'. Shekhar was a sweetheart though and he didn't require much convincing.
But for some strange reasons Vishal wouldn't agree. It wasn't new for me though because even earlier, I have seen him being reluctant about singing
his own compositions.''
In case of ALADIN though, Sujoy was quite sure that he wanted no one but Vishal to sing 'You May Be'.
''The kind of emotion that he brought in the song can't be expected to be replicated by any other singer. In fact for an entire year,
Vishal and Shekhar tried to get some other singers for 'You May Be'. It would be unfair to name these singers but ultimately even Vishal had to
agree that he was the best suited for the song'', recollects Sujoy.
